About
As a professional coach and consultant, I approach my work with companies and individuals as a companion along the journey - a sherpa.
personal story
I understand how hard it is to not only lift a company off the ground, but keep it running, healthy, and cash-flow positive. In addition to my coaching and experiential training, the most important role I play is that of an outsider looking in. Often companies and individuals get stuck because they are too close. When we view something from a distance, we have clarity. When something is just millimeters from our face, we experience the ensuing natural blindness that blocks us from the next best move. I tend to work with companies who are focused on their greater essence of being - their exponential contribution to the world and to humanity. Therefore, I focus on the fuel that runs the business - the purpose, mission, and ultimate vision. The company I founded before my coaching career, PRIMP and the Beautocracy served as a patented consumer technology platform and marketplace. The technology allowed for individual users to tag user-generated content and make it shoppable. Our purpose was to empower the consumer through the lens of real beauty and fashion by real people - not emotionally manipulative advertisements. I am interested in helping companies and brands honor the truth of the service and gift they provide to the world in a way that properly reflects their Sankalpa (Sanskrit: सङ्कल्प) - an intention formed by the heart and mind -- a solemn vow, determination, or will. I believe in grit with grace. Life is a balance. However, I don't believe anyone is their best self when they burn themselves out. As an entrepreneur, I didn't just burn out, my whole life burnt down. I was so focused on working "so hard" and "being so busy" that I lost sight of my true purpose. I felt I wasn't worthy unless I was 100% productive all the time. I realized I was operating from fear - fear of failure, anxiety over approval, and the ultimate terror of humiliation if "I didn't make it." Working from this fear created a company that failed. In my breakdown, I realized I was running off the wrong fuel. Once I learned to trade fear with things like "respect for excellence," "healthy boundaries," and "contributing all that I have to the greater good" I started to burn with a cleaner fuel. My passion is to help others do the same. I have found that when my clients tap into this reservoir of energy, they not only avoid burn out, but they burn brighter and have endless fuel in the tank! I believe in the foundational elements of practical tools. Therefore I bring in neuroscience, brain spotting, and a bevy of useful modalities from my background and training into my work with companies and individuals. One of my greatest teachers is failure. One of my goals with business leaders is to help them overcome the discomfort of failure. Fear of failure is what holds us back and keeps us from making the next right move. However, failure is necessary for growth, innovation, and creativity. The more comfortable we are with failure, the more confident we are in life.
